So what you’re saying is that Obama was actually saying, “Somebody invested in roads and bridges; you didn’t build that,” but decided to interrupt himself to say the random, having-to-do-with-nothing incomplete sentence, “If you’ve got a business”? The government’s investments in roads and bridges is not dependent on and has nothing to do with whether or not you’ve got a business. Stop squirming around to interpret his meaning and just listen to what he SAID. Off-the-cuff remarks like this are when people reveal themselves.
A few years ago Obama went off-script and made a similarly Marxist statement: “[We don’t] begrudge success that’s fairly earned.” And now breaking from his TelePrompTer: “I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.”
But Obama’s infamous “You Didn’t Build That” speech, when taken in context, contradicts your and other liberals’ twisting, squirming interpretation. Obama’s entire speech was about how we can’t do things without the government. He even said success does not come from hard work or brains.
Romney’s speech at the Olympics years ago was propping up friends and family members, while Obama was propping up the government. That’s a very huge and creepy difference.
