Friday, September 7 - August’s jobs report showed that official unemployment dropped from 8.3 percent to 8.1 percent. The labor participation rate is now at its lowest in 30 years.
Recovery!
Not at all satirically, NBC News declared that the government has no control over jobs numbers. If that’s the case, I wonder when they’ll stop blaming Bush for the 700,000 jobs lost in January 2009.
Madonna also got a stupid tattoo on her lower-back of the word “OBAMA” because she’s stupid, and Madonna.
Saturday, September 8 - Although the article was written on Friday, the fallout from it really began on Saturday. I speak of the article written by one Cord Jefferson and published at Gawker. It was about pedophilia and how it could be a sexual orientation. A good rule of thumb for life: if you believe pedophilia is a mere sexual orientation, keep that thought to yourself. Nothing good can come about from expressing that belief. And to keep it political, I’ll say it: there’s no way Cord Jefferson is not a Democrat.
Sunday, September 9 - Another slow news day, but that doesn’t mean Joe Biden couldn’t fill the void with something entertaining and creepy. He was photographed at a campaign stop in a restaurant, in a booth seat, between two biker dudes, and with a biker chick sitting on his lap. They both seemed to enjoy it, Biden and the gal, while the two guys on either side of them looked like they wanted to figuratively punch Biden. (See? Like ol’ Joe, I also don’t know the difference between “literally” and “figuratively.”)
Monday, September 10 - Teachers in Chicago went on the first strike in 25 years today to whine that they aren’t getting a 19-freaking-percent pay raise and that school hours will be increased. I saw a photo of a striker holding a sign that said, “I [heart] my students.” He hearts money more apparently. I gotta say—and pay attention, because I can’t foresee ever saying this again in my lifetime—I’m with Mayor Emanuel on this one.
Tuesday, September 11 - Joe Biden, speaking in Shanksville, PA, where one of the four planes crashed on 9/11, said in as solemn and somber a tone as to indicate he was not trying to be funny in the least, said this 11th anniversary of the terror attacks is “bittersweet,” which word can now be added to the growing list of words that Biden has absolutely no clue the meaning of.
President Obama also denied a request from Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet in New York. Because Obama’s on Israel’s side, you see.
A bunch of peaceful Muslim freedom fighters stormed US embassies in Egypt and Libya. Four American citizens, including our Libyan ambassador, were killed. Obama made an announcement that he’ll be on David Letterman on the 18th (tune in).
Wednesday, September 12 - Romney took questions from reporters about the sacking of the US embassy in Benghazi, Libya. Obama gave a statement, took no questions, went back inside.
The blogosphere and Twitterverse, two words I just coined, took to blaming the attacks on Florida Pastor Terry Jones, the man who proposed Burn a Koran Day last year, because he endorsed and distributed an anti-Islam amateur film made by a guy named Morris Sadek. Because, hey, what can you expect? I mean, the guy distributed a movie that hurt Muslims’ feelings, so of course the rational response to that is to kill some Americans. And according to liberals, of course, Jones—not the Libyans and Egyptians—should be blamed for the Libyans’ and Egyptians’ killing of Americans.
This is another case of liberals’ shifting accountability, so averse are they to that virtue.
Thursday, September 13 - The Federal Reserve announced it will begin it’s third round of quantitative easing (QE3), which means it will be printing more money, causing more inflation, and causing commodity prices to rise. For the economy, stupid.
New York City officially banned the sale of sugary drinks larger than 16 oz., the fine for violators being $200 and a bedtime of 8 p.m. Mayor Bloomberg is the bestest nanny around!
