only-conservative-here: proudblackconservative: booksandboatshoes: I think it should be noted that there are plenty of Muslim pacifists, and the Christians had the crusades etc. I also think it should be noted that most major terrorist religious crimes in the modern era have been Muslims. I mean, Westboro Baptist Church is considered an extremist group, but they’ve never killed anyone. I really honestly think that there needs to be a cultural shift in what it means to be a conservative Muslim in some parts of the world. 1 in 10 Indonesians think killing someone who speaks against their religion is justified. That has to change. And as a cultural anthropologist with a focus in religion one day, I hope I’m a part of that change. Exactly. Every religion has extremists. The difference is nowadays, the Muslim brand of extremism is far more destructive, deadly, vicious, cruel, and horrifying than the Christian brand. There’s a big difference between holding up hateful signs and blowing up thousands of innocent people. What bugs me is the fact that the media tends to love jumping all over Christian “extremists” while pretending that Muslim extremist are few and far between and aren’t really worth mentioning lest we offend all the peaceful Muslim people. In other words, it’s OK to cast all the Christians under that “hateful, judgmental” blanket, but call all Muslims terrorists and prepare yourself for the flamewar.  Not to mention the notable differences between the founders of each religion.
