I guess I'm only intimately familiar with the Great Depression which "struck" in 1929, but got worse and worse through 1932-33. I suppose Reagan and Clinton turned around the economy when they took office, but those recessions were incomparable to the one we experienced in 2008.
The overwhelming majority of economists agree that FDR prolonged the depression, thus turning it into the “Great” Depression. And Reagan inherited a worse economy then Obama did. I’ve written about it before, I think. Try looking through www.leftybegone.com/tagged/reagan
